More and more people live in Isolation or loneliness in the UK. These are caused due many reasons. Some are due to Bereavement of a loved one, some are due to mental health challenges, some are due to ill health, and other reasons. These and more has caused many people to live in isolation and have resulted in different health challenges in the UK at large.
Jennifer Obianuju Orji, executive director of Holding hands believed that;
“more needs to be done by all sectors and people to promote social inclusion, participation, and wellbeing of all especially for those who may require more support to ensure equity and fairness”
As research from Minds UK and NHS indicates that Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK experiences a mental health problem each year and In England, 1 in 6 people experience common.
mental health problem (such as anxiety and depression) in any given week!!! Half a million more people are out of the labour force because of long-term sickness. Between June and August 2022, around 2.5 million people reported long-term sickness as the main reason for economic inactivity. Loneliness costs UK employers: £2.5 billion per year. Loneliness and social isolation in older adults are serious public health risks affecting a significant number of people, who at risk for dementia and other serious medical conditions.
Immigrant, LGBT People Are at Higher Risk. What about families and children going through relationship breakdown or families living in poverty and deprivation? The need for social inclusion is our today society is enormous and we have happy to be the space and helping to tackle the situation.
